Love Wins!
I just have to share the joy I experienced recently at my cousin Christina and her fiance. Sonia’s bridal shower. It was an event filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments as we celebrated the beautiful couple, Christina and her fiancé Sonia, who are about to embark on their next great adventure—marriage!

As someone who identifies as a lesbian, attending this bridal shower was particularly special for me. It’s not just about the wedding; it’s a moment of triumph reflecting how far we’ve come in terms of rights and acceptance. Seeing them surrounded by family and friends gave me so much joy, especially considering the hurdles my generation faced just for the chance to love openly. But that’s a tale for another day—let’s focus on the festivities!

We get to shower TWO brides!
The shower was a whirlwind of vibrant decorations, delicious food, and a cake that could have been a work of art. I mean, seriously. Where were these culinary geniuses when I had my own bridal shower? My mom was my gorgeous date for the day (who knew moms could be such fierce companions at showers?). We laughed, we reminisced, and we soaked in all the good vibes that were reverberating around the room.

Can we talk about the guests?
Family, friends, and, of course, my crazy cousins made the day unforgettable. The atmosphere was bursting with love and excitement. There was plenty of light-hearted banter, and I swear, I could have filled an entire blog just with the funny anecdotes exchanged—seriously, we could consider turning it into a sitcom!

Fast forward to the wedding day!
Wow, was that a spectacular affair! The ceremony was beautiful, a testament to their love that brought tears of joy to everyone present. And then came the reception, which was nothing short of legendary. The music, the dancing, the food—oh, the food! Being an Assyrian, Armenian woman, I could truly appreciate the cultural feast that was laid out. From classic dishes to the dynamic beats that had us all on our feet, it was a celebration that showcased not just love, but a fusion of cultures and community.

It’s moments like these that remind me—love is love, and it deserves to be celebrated. As I stood there watching Christina and Sonia take their first dance, I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness for them. They’re lucky, and so am I, for being part of this beautiful journey, in a time where love knows no bounds.

Here’s to Christina and Sonia! May your life together be filled with laughter, love, and cake that tastes as good as it looks!
Until next time, fellow lovebirds!
